        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com \u2014 Bank Indonesia (BI) assesses that the momentum\nof strengthening Indonesia\u2019s economic growth needs to be continuously\nmaintained amid rising global uncertainties, including the impact of the\nwar in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>In the first quarter of 2026, Indonesia\u2019s economic growth is expected\nto increase, with primary support from domestic demand, both household\nconsumption and investment.<\/p>\n<p>BI Governor Perry Warjiyo stated that the strengthening of domestic\ndemand is a key factor in supporting Indonesia\u2019s economic growth at the\nbeginning of this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe momentum of strengthening Indonesia\u2019s economic growth needs to\nbe continuously maintained amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.\nIndonesia\u2019s economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 will increase,\nsupported by domestic demand,\u201d said Perry during the BI Board of\nGovernors Meeting for March 2026, on Tuesday (17\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>According to him, household consumption is increasing, supported by\nheightened demand related to the celebration of National Religious\nHolidays (HBKN).<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, improvements in income for certain income groups are\nalso contributing, particularly those stemming from the provision of\nHoliday Allowances (THR), government social spending, and various\nincentives provided by the government.<\/p>\n<p>Perry emphasised that global developments influenced by the conflict\nin the Middle East have the potential to impact the national economy,\nparticularly through financial market and trade channels.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, appropriate policy responses are needed to maintain the\ngrowth momentum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing forward, the worsening of the global economy and financial\nmarkets due to the Middle East war needs to be anticipated and responded\nto appropriately to maintain the national economic growth momentum,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolicy synergy between the government and Bank Indonesia, as well as\nother stakeholders, will be further strengthened to maintain domestic\ndemand and support economic growth in the range of 4.9 to 5.7 percent,\u201d\nsaid Perry.<\/p>\n<p>He also stressed the importance of maintaining the confidence of\neconomic actors, both households and businesses.
