Bhinneka opens with a win in Kobatama<\/p>\n

SURABAYA (JP): Eastern division runner-up Bhinneka Sritex Solo
\nmade a good start on the first day of the third series of the
\n1999 A Mild Kobatama National Basketball League by gaining a
\ntotal victory of 108-40 over Western division's underdog
\nSiliwangi Bandung at the Pacific basketball stadium on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
In the second game, Cahaya Lestari Surabaya (CLS), which
\nfinished third in the Eastern division, beat Jakarta-based Citra
\nSatria Pelita (CSP) 82-64 before their home crowd.<\/p>\n
In the third game, Jakarta-based IM Texmaco, third ranked in
\nthe Western division, defeated Pacific Bank Swadesi 71-59, ranked
\nfourth in the Eastern division, before its home crowd.<\/p>\n
With two national players on the team, Bhinneka outclassed
\nSiliwangi, consisting of mostly juniors from West Java. These
\nplayers are preparing for the 2000 National Games (PON) here.<\/p>\n
Bhinneka is trailing behind the division champions, Panasia
\nIndosyntec, who were undefeatable in the preliminary second
\nseries. Bhinneka won three out of four games in the last series
\nwhich was staged in Cirebon in West Java and Malang in East Java,
\nwhile Siliwangi did not win any games.<\/p>\n
Bhinneka's forward Hardono Putro, a member of the 1999
\nSoutheast Asian (SEA) Games held in Brunei last month, scored 17
\npoints. Teammate Hendro Andiono was the second contributor with
\n14 points, trailed by I Made Sudiadyana who scored 11 points.<\/p>\n
Aditya Tutkey and Doni Tirta were the top scorers for
\nSiliwangi, gaining eight points each.<\/p>\n
CLS's forward Hari Suharsono, who failed to join the SEA Games
\nteam, and teammate Mulyohadi Soesilo scored the most for CLS with
\n14 points each.<\/p>\n
Coach Wellyanto Pribadi said his team had played fast to break
\nthrough CSP's shaky defense.<\/p>\n
\"We play really fast and tactical. Citra Satria Pelita's
\njunior and senior players were still unable to cooperate well
\nenough for the first game,\" he said after the match.<\/p>\n
Cahaya Lestari Surabaya and Citra Satria Pelita only won one
\nmatch each. They lost three times in the last two series.<\/p>\n
Rematch<\/p>\n
Bandung-based Panasia will challenge Western division
\nchampions Aspac in the second day of the league on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The match will most likely serve as the final rematch for
\nPanasia and Aspac. Panasia met Aspac in the do-or-die final last
\nyear in Jakarta where it managed to upset the then defending
\nchampions 55-45.<\/p>\n
After two preliminary tours, both clubs still topped the score
\nwith 100 points each. Both teams, which each contributed players
\nto the national team, claimed to retain the top position after
\nfive matches in the series.<\/p>\n
Panasia team manager, Danny Kosasih, said his team would play
\nfast to put pressure on Aspac's forwards and guards.<\/p>\n
\"Aspac has good forwards and shooter guards. But we must be
\nable to win in the three points area. Our players will play
\nfaster than them,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Aspac's coach, Tjetjep Firmansyah, said he had already
\nobserved Panasia's strategy and he would instruct his players to
\nmark Panasia's forwards and shooter guards.<\/p>\n
\"Our players usually play together with Aspac players on the
\nnational team. I have a new strategy to beat them and I will
\napply it should Panasia perform all-out,\" said Tjetjep, former
\ncoach for the SEA Games basketball team.<\/p>",
