Jakarta, VIVA \u2013 The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has issued\nwarnings to 2,100 Service Units for Nutrition Fulfilment (SPPG) and\ntemporarily suspended some of them as a commitment to continuously\nimprove the quality of services in the Free Nutritious Meals Programme\n(MBG).<\/p>\n
Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, stated that this measure is part of\noversight to ensure service standards are met.<\/p>\n
\u201cA total of 2,100 SPPG have been warned, while another 1,789 have had\ntheir operations temporarily suspended. Most suspensions were carried\nout because several SPPG have not registered for the Certificate of\nHygiene and Sanitation Compliance (SLHS),\u201d he said in Jakarta on\nThursday.<\/p>\n
In addition, there are SPPG that have registered but whose\ncertificates have not been issued within one month; even for SPPG\nassessed to have good services, they can still be suspended if the SLHS\nhas not been issued.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe suspension is temporary until the document (SLHS) is issued.\nThis data may evolve, as the SLHS could be issued in two to three days,\u201d\nDadan explained.<\/p>\n
Besides the SLHS issue, another factor causing suspensions is the\nunavailability of Wastewater Treatment Installations (IPAL). BGN has\nrequested SPPG without IPAL to build them first.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe duration of the suspension depends on how quickly each unit\nfulfils the requirements, estimated to range from one to two weeks,\u201d\nDadan said.<\/p>\n
He mentioned findings during Ramadan, where 62 SPPG produced menus\nthat did not comply with regulations. This case was widely discussed on\nsocial media. BGN then temporarily halted operations of the related SPPG\nto allow improvements.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe issuance of warnings and suspensions is part of coaching\nefforts. The temporary halt is not a permanent sanction, but rather to\nenable each SPPG to correct deficiencies before resuming operations,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
The government has decided to provide MBG only on days when students\nattend school, and not on holidays.<\/p>\n
This follows a cross-ministry\/institution evaluation presented at a\nlimited coordination meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Food\nAffairs in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor improvements and effectiveness of implementation, previously\n(MBG) was given for 6 days, including holidays. That turned out to be\nless effective. Therefore, we have decided that MBG will be given on\nschool days, (students) come for 5 days. On Eid holidays, providing MBG\nis also ineffective.
