REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG \u2013 Deputy for Provision and Distribution of\nthe National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Brigadier General TNI (Retd) Suardi\nSamiran, revealed that his agency is currently socialising legal\nsanctions against heads of nutrition fulfilment service units (SPPG) who\ncommit violations in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals\n(MBG) programme. He stated that if the violations meet criminal\ncriteria, criminal proceedings can be initiated.<\/p>\n
Suardi said that every violation by SPPG will be met with sanctions.\n\u201cWe are now socialising legal sanctions and awards to the SPPI\n(Indonesian Development Driver Graduates) involved in the implementation\nas SPPG heads,\u201d he said after attending the National Dialogue on Best\nPractices for Free Nutritious Meals and ASEAN ID-Nourish at Hotel Gumaya\nin Semarang City, Central Java, on Wednesday (29\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
When asked further whether these legal sanctions include criminal\npenalties, Suardi confirmed. \u201cWhy not? If it indeed constitutes a\ncriminal act, why not? This is a rule-of-law state; we can\u2019t just do as\nwe please,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
He added that so far, BGN has closed SPPG units deemed to have\nviolated procedures in the processing and serving of MBG. \u201cThey were\nclosed because they did not meet the established standards. There were\ndeficiencies that had been pointed out but not corrected,\u201d he\nexplained.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Suardi encouraged local governments to actively\nparticipate in overseeing and monitoring the MBG programme\u2019s\nimplementation. \u201cLocal governments must be involved because the children\nbeing fed are in their areas, not children from Jakarta. Those fed in\nSemarang are Semarang\u2019s people. Those fed in Ambon are Ambon\u2019s children.\nSo, local governments must get involved,\u201d Suardi stated.<\/p>\n
He further noted that departments that can be involved in supervising\nMBG implementation include health, education, agriculture, and civil\nregistry services. \u201cIf they are involved, they will know whether this is\nbeing done properly or not in the programme\u2019s execution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
