Following a food security incident that hospitalised dozens of students due to digestive issues, Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Nanik Sudaryati Deyang conducted a surprise inspection at SPPG Pondok Kelapa 2 and highlighted the critical need for proper checks on incoming raw materials to prevent contamination. She stressed the importance of separating washing areas for different ingredients and empowering SPPG heads to reject substandard supplies from vendors. Nanik also urged the foundation overseeing the unit to visit affected students, apologise personally, and report any disruptions to the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) to BGN's monitoring deputy, warning that failure to comply could halt operations.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN)
for Public Communication and Investigation, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, has
reminded of the critical points in the Nutritious Fulfilment Service
Unit (SPPG), particularly when raw materials arrive.

This was stated by Nanik during a surprise inspection at SPPG Pondok
Kelapa 2 on Sunday (5/4), following a food security incident involving
digestive disturbances that affected dozens of students, requiring
hospital treatment.

“Try to check when raw materials arrive; the nutritionist should also
join in checking because it’s critical. The most critical main point is
when raw materials arrive, and then washing them is also dangerous if
done in one place,” she said, as quoted from a video on Instagram Sidak
BGN in Jakarta on Wednesday.

She emphasised that separating washing areas is crucial to prevent
bacterial contamination from raw materials entering the SPPG; therefore,
the placement of materials also needs to be carefully arranged by the
SPPG.

Nanik also stressed to the SPPG head to properly check raw materials
from suppliers before processing, as every SPPG supervisor has the
authority to reject raw materials from suppliers deemed unfit.

“Please do it correctly, because I see it’s not yet right. The most
critical is when raw materials arrive because you (the SPPG head) must
sort them, whether they are correct or not, what the materials are
like?” she explained.

Nanik also asked the partner foundation owner overseeing SPPG Pondok
Kelapa 2 to visit the students being treated in hospital and immediately
report to the BGN Monitoring and Supervision Deputy if there are any
matters that could potentially disrupt the Free Nutritious Meals
Programme (MBG).

“If it’s not right, report directly to the Monitoring and Supervision
Deputy. There’s already an incident like this, only then (act). You must
also properly implement the President’s programme. Anyway, I ask for
those 72 people, you (the partner) visit them one by one and apologise;
promise me, yes, fulfil it; if not fulfilled, I won’t open (SPPG
operations),” Nanik said.
",
