        "content": "<p>The BGN Deputy Head Trenggono made the statement while inspecting the\nimplementation of the MBG program at several schools and Nutrition\nFulfillment Service Units (SPPG), or MBG kitchens, in Central Jakarta on\nMonday.<\/p>\n<p>Trenggono said that nutritional quality remains the top priority in\nevery meal served. Daily menus should consistently include animal-based\nprotein as a key component to support the growth and development of\nschool-age children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to ensure that every child receives complete and balanced\nnutrition. Therefore, meals containing animal-based protein, including\nmeat, must be continuously provided while still taking into account food\nsafety standards, nutritional adequacy, and the availability of raw\ningredients in each region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to emphasizing nutritional quality, he also issued\nseveral directives to SPPG managers and partners to ensure the\nimplementation of the MBG program complies with standard operating\nprocedures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSPPG managers and partners must actively provide guidance during\nmonitoring visits, maintain regular communication with schools, and\ngather feedback from principals, teachers, students, and other\nbeneficiaries to evaluate and plan the menus,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The BGN said it will continue to monitor and regularly evaluate the\nimplementation of the MBG program across various regions, reaffirming\nits commitment to ensuring the program runs optimally and delivers\ntangible benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Trenggono also added that the MBG program is not only oriented toward\nmeeting children\u2019s nutritional needs, but is also expected to create a\nsustainable economic impact for the community.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the raw materials procurement needs to prioritize local\nsources and involve local businesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to utilize high-quality local fruits, reduce our reliance on\nfactory-processed ingredients, and prioritize sourcing from micro,\nsmall, and medium enterprises (MSMEs),\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>That way, he added, the program will not only benefit its\nbeneficiaries, but also farmers, businesses, and the surrounding\ncommunities.<\/p>\n<p>Targeting 82.9 million beneficiaries nationwide, the MBG program was\nlaunched in early 2025 to provide meals to children under five, pregnant\nwomen, breastfeeding mothers, and schoolchildren up to the high school\nlevel.<\/p>\n<p>The Indonesian government previously decided to suspend the free meal\ndeliveries throughout the school holidays for a thorough evaluation\naimed at improving the program\u2019s implementation.<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Prabowo orders regional leaders to oversee free meal\nprogram<\/p>\n<p>Translator: Lintang Budiyanti, Raka Adji<\/p>",
