        "content": "<p>The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has permanently closed 504\nnutrition fulfilment service units (SPPG) deemed unfit for operation.\nThe hundreds of kitchens serving the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG)\nprogramme were found not to meet sanitation requirements based on\ninspections by local health agencies.<\/p>\n<p>BGN chief Sudaryono said the agency had received a report from the\nMinistry of Health (Kemenkes) regarding MBG kitchens that were unfit in\nterms of sanitation as of 10 August 2026. On that basis, BGN decided to\npermanently close 504 kitchens in various regions of Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs of today, the report dated the 10th, last Monday, shows there are\n504 kitchens, according to reports from health agencies across Indonesia\nsubmitted through the Ministry of Health, 504 kitchens that we have\npermanently closed because they were declared unfit in terms of\nsanitation,\u201d he said in a statement on Thursday (13\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the number of SPPG to be closed could still\nincrease. This is because inspections are still being carried out by\nhealth agencies on approximately 3,000 MBG kitchens in various\nregions.<\/p>\n<p>He said the agency is accelerating the sanitation feasibility\ninspection process for MBG kitchens. However, he assured that the\nacceleration would not be done by disregarding established\nstandards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe remaining approximately 3,000 have registered and are currently\nbeing checked by their respective health agencies. We are waiting, and\nif they are found unfit, then I apologise, but this is a matter of\nsomeone\u2019s life, a matter of our children\u2019s lives, and we cannot\ncompromise on that,\u201d Sudaryono said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the agency appreciates local governments that have\nassisted in the monitoring and handling of MBG food safety issues. He\nalso emphasised that BGN applies a zero-tolerance principle towards\npoisoning cases in the implementation of the programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe express our appreciation and gratitude from the National\nNutrition Agency. In essence, we also want to emphasise that our desire\nis zero tolerance towards any future poisoning cases,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
