Beware of 'new' terror<\/p>\n
The U.S. and Australian governments have warned international
\nschools in Jakarta of possible attacks (by terrorists), following
\nAustralia's warning to its citizens to defer travel to Indonesia.<\/p>\n
The result is that Jakarta International School, the
\nAustralian International School, and the British International
\nSchool have been closed since Friday.<\/p>\n
Geoffrey Leach, spokesman for the Australian Embassy in
\nJakarta, said that international schools affiliated with western
\ncountries could possibly become the target of terrorists.<\/p>\n
With their travel advisories, the U.S. and Australian
\ngovernments obviously gave the international world the impression
\nthat Indonesia is still unsafe.<\/p>\n
Is security in the country a total failure?<\/p>\n
It would be better for those who are in the country to remain
\nalert, but they must be smart enough so as not to be fooled by
\nany politicized issues on terrorism.<\/p>\n
In this case, taking rumors or issues too seriously would be
\nunwise, and we should not take in all threats, issues or rumors
\ntoo eagerly.<\/p>\n
Stepping up security at locations which are believed to be
\nvulnerable to terrorist attacks, such as embassies and schools
\naffiliated with western interests, is the best move.<\/p>\n
