People from Tulungagung, East Java, should be extremely
\ncareful. My 69-year-old mother was robbed in a minivan on May 30,
\n1997. She was waiting for a bus from Trenggalek, at the
\ncrossroads of Jetakan Kalangbret, to the Tulungagung bus terminal
\nwhen a minivan Colt L-300 stopped alongside her and offered her a
\nlift. My mother said the vehicle was not a public van, but the
\ndriver said she shouldn't worry about it.<\/p>\n
My mother got into the vehicle and noticed there were four
\nmale passengers, including the driver. She was not dropped off at
\nthe bus terminal. Instead she was driven in the direction of
\nSumbergempol. My mother was threatened with a knife before the
\nmen robbed the 100 grams of gold jewelry she wore that day and
\nRp 250,000.<\/p>\n
My mother fainted after the mistreatment she received. The men
\nblindfolded her, stuffed her mouth and discarded her in a rice
\nfield. When she regained consciousness, she discovered that she
\nwas bleeding and unable to walk. My mother cried for help. The
\nrice farmers in the field helped her and accompanied her to the
\nvillage administrator. She was then taken to the local police
\noffice. From there, they led her to the police office in
\nKalangbret, and finally to the Kalangbret Health Clinic.<\/p>\n
