        "content": "<p>At least one million jobs in London are categorised as highly\nvulnerable due to advancements in artificial intelligence (AI),\naccording to a new report from the Greater London Authority (GLA), the\ncity\u2019s government.<\/p>\n<p>The 71-page report states that more than 300,000 jobs in\nadministration face the highest exposure to automation, as their\nclerical tasks are most aligned with the capabilities of generative\nAI.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, around 748,000 other jobs in sectors such as\ninformation technology, data analysis, and secretarial work are also\ndeemed at risk from AI, though the level varies depending on the type of\ntasks.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, at least 46 per cent of workers in London, or about 2.4\nmillion people, are in positions where generative AI could automate part\nof their duties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt least 46 per cent of London workers are in roles where GenAI can\nautomate part of their tasks,\u201d the report states, as quoted from the BBC\non Wednesday, 29 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the other 54 per cent of workers are assessed to have\nlower exposure because their primary tasks are not as compatible with\ncurrent AI capabilities. However, the report emphasises that this does\nnot mean there is no impact at all.<\/p>\n<p>Women are one of the most vulnerable groups because they are more\nrepresented in administrative and clerical sectors. Additionally, young\nworkers and those with higher levels of education are also among the\nmost affected groups.<\/p>\n<p>Some professions deemed vulnerable to AI include brokers, web\ndesigners, telephone sales staff, and journalists. In contrast, jobs\nwith the lowest risk include architects, barbers, chefs, chief executive\nofficers (CEOs), driving instructors, florists, and funeral\ndirectors.<\/p>\n<p>London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan stated that high exposure to AI does not\nalways mean jobs will be completely lost. \u201cI want to emphasise that a\nhigh level of exposure to AI does not always mean job loss,\u201d said Sadiq\nKhan in his speech in Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, AI can also assist workers and increase\nproductivity, rather than just replacing humans. \u201cOur research shows a\nstrong possibility that AI will augment capabilities and help London\nworkers in these roles, rather than eliminating their jobs entirely,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>",
