Kurniawan, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>The goal will be to sharpen mental toughness in tight<br>\nmatchplay situations and upgrade skills as the Table Tennis<br>\nAssociation of Indonesia (PTMSI) sends 12 athletes to train in<br>\nGuangdong, southern China.<\/p>\n<p>\"In China, we hope they will learn to play well at critical<br>\npoints and polish their skills, which are not yet at world class<br>\nlevel,\" PTMSI secretary-general Farid Rahman said on Wednesday<br>\nahead of the athletes' departure next Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The players taking part in the Chinese training are David<br>\nJacobs, Yon Mardiyono, Muhammad Hussein, Agus Fredi Pramono,<br>\nKunkun Sisdo Mubarat and Reno Handoyo from the men's division,<br>\nand Ceria Nilasari, Istiyani Lindawati, Christine Ferliana, Santi<br>\nFibriyanti, Ruri Raung and Silir Rovani among the women.<\/p>\n<p>Hussein, Reno, Silir and Christine will leave for Guangdong<br>\nfrom Lunan, China, where they are training currently, while the<br>\nrest will depart from Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Farid said that one male and one female athlete would be<br>\nremoved from the program in mid-July, leaving 10 athletes to<br>\ntrain in China until Nov. 24.<\/p>\n<p>\"Those 10 athletes will be the Southeast Asia (SEA) Games<br>\nteam,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Table tennis is one of six sports whose athletes will be<br>\ntrained in Guangdong in a stepped-up effort to secure medals at<br>\nthe 2005 SEA Games, to be held from Nov. 27 to Dec. 5 in Manila.<\/p>\n<p>The other sports are fencing, wrestling, archery, shooting and<br>\nwushu. They will leave on a staggered schedule.<\/p>\n<p>The thriving province of Guangdong is considered a major<br>\nathlete training center in China, including in table tennis. Ma<br>\nLin, the 2004 Olympic men's doubles champions with Chen Qi, is<br>\nfrom Guangdong.<\/p>\n<p>Farid said that aside from their training program in China,<br>\nthe players would participate in the Asian Table Tennis<br>\nChampionship in South Korea in August.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that PTMSI had allocated a Rp 250 million bonus<br>\nfor each gold medal winner in this year's SEA Games.<\/p>",
