The megaseller novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati by Brian Khrisna
will be adapted into a feature film. Production will begin in April this
year. The project is a collaboration between two production houses,
Sinergi Pictures and Ben Film. The film will be directed by Kuntz Agus,
with a screenplay written by Alim Sudio and Nia Dinata serving as script
consultant.

The film centers on Ale, a man at rock bottom who contemplates ending
his life. In the final 24 hours before that decision, Ale longs to eat
mie ayam. However, his plan is delayed because the stall he intends to
go to is closed. That delay becomes the beginning of a series of
encounters that change his perspective on life.

The novel has been read by hundreds of thousands of people and is
currently approaching its 100th printing. It has also been translated
and published in Japanese. The film adaptation is expected to reach a
wider audience, including viewers who have not read the novel.

“In addition to its readership, our reason at Sinergi Pictures for
adapting this novel into a film is that the story is very good, closely
relatable to many people and, of course, inspirational. This aligns with
Sinergi Pictures’ films that consistently present strong stories and
capture the realities around us,” said Philip Lesmana, producer at
Sinergi Pictures, in a press release received by Media Indonesia, on
Wednesday (4/3).

Meanwhile, producer Ardina Atles of Ben Film added that the selection
of filmmakers and cast has been carefully considered to deliver the best
results and meet readers’ expectations.

“Translating a novel to film is easy or hard, but there is the appeal
of adapting a literary work. Readers inevitably have high expectations
for the work they love. However, together with Sinergi Pictures, from
choosing filmmakers to actors, we strive to satisfy audiences, both
those who have read the novel and those who have not. We are also eager
to begin shooting soon,” Ardina said.

After conducting casting in several cities and naming a number of
actors, the depiction of Ale remains unannounced to the public. The film
is currently in pre-production. (H-3)
",
