Belitung doesn't receive 'TPI'<\/p>\n

During his visit to Belitung regency, South Sumatra in July
\n1995, the chairman of the functional group (Golkar) promised that
\nBelitung community would be able to receive TPI (Indonesian
\nEducational Television) without the virtue of parabola antenna as
\nof October 1995. The promise was made before tens of thousands of
\npeople at Tanjung Pandan sports stadium.<\/p>\n
But until now, not only can't we get TPI, but the reception of
\nstate-owned TVRI's broadcast is not satisfactory either.
\nMeanwhile, the local officials seem to be indifferent over the
\npeople's demand because they have parabola antennas and can enjoy
\nthemselves.<\/p>\n
However, we are fully aware that to build a TV station is a
\ntremendously costly business. In this case we would like to
\nsuggest that the private television companies jointly build a
\nrelay station on Mt. Tajam. The ex-workers of PT Timah, who are
\nnow unemployed and have technical know-how in this area, could be
\nrecruited to man the station.<\/p>\n
