A Belgian national, SD, who went viral after jumping from a 100-metre cliff into the sea in Bali on a rented motorbike, faces deportation after attempting to flee without compensating for the severely damaged vehicle. Immigration authorities at Ngurah Rai intercepted his escape plan to Malaysia via Papua and Makassar, leading to his examination, payment of damages, and subsequent deportation to Belgium under Indonesia's Immigration Law.

A daring act by a foreign national from Belgium, initialled SD, who
jumped into the sea from a cliff in Bali using a rented motorbike, has
resulted in deportation. SD initially attempted to escape as he did not
want to compensate for the damaged rental motorbike.

The Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan,
stated that his office deported SD after discovering his plan to flee
the country. Bugie assured that all forms of violations would be
addressed.

“We ensure there is no room for compromise for foreign nationals who
violate regulations and attempt to avoid legal processes,” said Bugie in
Mangapura, Badung Regency, Bali, as reported by Antara on Friday
(3/4/2026).

Viral Cliff Jump

SD previously went viral on social media. He performed the daring act
by jumping from a cliff approximately 100 metres high at a beach in
Ungasan Village, Badung, using a motorbike.

However, the motorbike did not fall with him because it was tied to
the cliff. Nevertheless, the rented motorbike was severely damaged after
hitting the cliff edge.

The incident occurred on 23-24 March 2026. SD’s act was recorded by
his friend from Austria and uploaded to social media, where it became
viral.

No Money for Compensation

Bugie said the issue arose when the motorbike owner demanded
compensation. Bugie noted that SD refused to pay, claiming he had no
money.

The victim then reported the matter to Immigration. Officers summoned
SD for clarification.

Instead of taking responsibility, SD attempted to flee to Malaysia.
He planned to fly to Sorong, Papua, then transit in Makassar, South
Sulawesi, before continuing to Kuala Lumpur on 30 March 2026.

The escape attempt was thwarted by Immigration officers at Sultan
Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar. SD was then escorted back to Bali.

After examination at the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, SD finally
paid compensation to the motorbike rental business owner. SD was
deported to Belgium via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport with a
transit in Doha.

Bugie stated that SD violated Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law No. 6
of 2011 on Immigration. In addition to deportation, SD has been
blacklisted, preventing his return to Indonesia for a certain
period.
",
