Bekasi to build new bus terminal<\/p>\n
BEKASI: Bekasi councillors say they are considering a 50-
\nhectare site in Mustikasari village as the location for a new bus
\nterminal to replace the Bekasi Bus Terminal.<\/p>\n
Council Commission D Chairman Muchtar Muhammad said on Tuesday
\nthat compared with the two other recommended sites -- Bojong
\nMenteng and Pengasinan villages -- Mustikasari was closest to
\nboth the east and west toll gates.<\/p>\n
He said that most of the Mustikasari area was vacant and
\ntherefore clearing it for development would be easy. The land
\nprice was also much cheaper than the other potential sites, he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
He said clearing the land areas in the other recommended areas
\nwould be difficult as they comprised housing complexes and
\nindustrial areas with expensive land prices.<\/p>\n
The current bus terminal in Bekasi only has a total area of
\n1.3 hectares that cannot accommodate the about 4,000 buses and
\nminivans serving the city and its surrounds.<\/p>\n
