        "content": "<p>Bekasi regent<\/p>\n<p>From Media Indonesia<\/p>\n<p>I read with interest a Sept. 18 article about the regent of<br>\nBekasi refusing to admit any wrongdoings or problems in his<br>\nadministration while addressing 163 legislative candidates, some<br>\nof whom might become his partners in carrying out development<br>\nprograms in his regency.<\/p>\n<p>How could he make such a statement to the legislative body,<br>\nwhich is meant to monitor executive positions such as the<br>\nregent's. Bekasi legislators represent local interests and speak<br>\nfor the people. They are supposed to point out any deviations<br>\nwithin the administration. The regent should not try to limit<br>\ntheir responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, those holding executive positions should work with<br>\nlegislators for common goals in the interest of the people.<\/p>\n<p>KARMAN SURYADI<\/p>\n<p>Bogor, West Java<\/p>",
