The Bekasi Regency prioritised the construction of three sections of the Kalimalang Inspection Road, with overall road stability now reaching 85 per cent. A dedicated budget of over Rp100 billion has been allocated, primarily leaving only maintenance and the completion of complementary facilities such as medians. Delays persist on certain median works in Tambun Selatan due to ongoing land acquisition processes and coordination with the Becakayu toll road project.

The Regency Government of Bekasi, through its Water Resources,
Highways and Construction Department (SDA-BMBK), is prioritising the
development of three segments of the Kalimalang Inspection Road,
supporting a road stability condition that has now reached 85 per cent.
Head of Road Development at the SDA-BMBK Department of Bekasi Regency,
Dede Chairul, stated that the three segments cover the city boundary to
Cibitung, the Tegal Gede-Tegal Danas section, and the border with
Karawang Regency. ‘Our division’s focus is on these three segments where
the flow of two-wheeled and large vehicle traffic is not yet too heavy.
These three segments are likely the priority this year,’ Dede said in a
statement on Thursday (4/6). According to him, the Bekasi Regency
Government has allocated a substantial APBD budget over the past two
years for the construction of the Kalimalang Inspection Road. Road users
and the residents of Bekasi Regency can already feel a very significant
change. ‘We have budgeted an extraordinary amount for the Kalimalang
Inspection route, more than Rp100 billion. If we look at the condition,
its stability is around 85 per cent, so it only needs road maintenance
and complementary facilities such as utilities,’ he said. Dede explained
that the route previously had many points of light to severe road
damage. Moreover, there were no barriers or road medians, which
triggered arbitrary vehicle U-turns and illegal parking on the road
shoulders. ‘Our future focus is to continue the work on road medians on
both sides that are still interrupted in the South Tambun District area,
constrained by land acquisition which is the authority of the Bekasi
Regency Housing, Settlement and Land Affairs Office (Disperkimtan),’ he
clarified. He noted that one of the points that cannot yet be worked on
is the stretch from the Bekasi City boundary to the Legenda bridge.
Besides being constrained by the land procurement process, the
construction of the road median at that location also conflicts with the
development plan for the Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) Toll
Road project. ‘We remain focused on completing the points of road that
have suffered severe damage while waiting for the land acquisition
process to be completed. The Kalimalang Inspection Road serves as one of
the alternative routes supporting public mobility and connectivity,’ he
concluded.
",
