        "content": "<p>Bekasi Regency (ANTARA) - The Bekasi Regency Government in West Java\nhas closed an illegal Waste Disposal Site (TPS) that was disturbing\nresidents of Sriamur Village, North Tambun District, as a swift response\nto follow up on public complaints regarding the negative impacts of\nactivities at the location.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday I visited Sriamur Village following community complaints.\nSince the impacts are already felt by residents, especially related to\nhealth due to poor air quality, we will temporarily close waste disposal\nhere,\u201d said Acting Regent (Plt) of Bekasi Asep Surya Atmaja at the\nlocation on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The illegal TPS has been operating for over a decade and has\nfrequently been complained about by residents because it causes\nunpleasant odours and affects health.<\/p>\n<p>Asep emphasised that the regency government will immediately halt\nwaste disposal activities at the site. The Environment Agency (DLH) has\nalso been instructed to transport all the piled-up waste.<\/p>\n<p>He also opened opportunities for residents who wish to manage waste\nas a business, but with the condition that it meets legality aspects and\ndoes not cause pollution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the community wants to engage in waste processing business,\nplease do. But it must comply with regulations, not pollute the\nenvironment, and have clear permits. We will coordinate with DLH and\nlicensing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the waste issue in Bekasi Regency is currently at\nan emergency level, requiring concrete and collaborative steps, such as\noptions for cooperation with the private sector up to the Waste\nProcessing to Electricity Energy Programme (PSEL).<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, North Tambun District Head Najmudin stated that the\ninitial steps after closing activities at the location are to ensure all\nwaste is transported, while increasing supervision to prevent illegal\ndumping again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf in the future there are parties who want to manage it officially\nand meet the permits, it can certainly be coordinated.
