REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA \u2014 Speculation regarding the possibility of\nthe United States withdrawing from NATO has resurfaced amid rising\nglobal geopolitical tensions. However, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte\nhas firmly dismissed such narratives.<\/p>\n
Rutte described the notion that Washington would leave the North\nAtlantic Alliance as nonsensical. He assessed that the speculation is\nmore political in nature than reflective of strategic reality.<\/p>\n

These criticisms have sparked concerns among analysts that America\u2019s\ncommitment to NATO could weaken. In fact, some parties have begun\nspeculating about the possibility of a shift in US foreign policy\ndirection.<\/p>\n
However, Rutte affirmed that America\u2019s strategic commitment to NATO\nremains strong. He views the transatlantic alliance as still the main\npillar of global security stability.<\/p>\n
According to him, NATO\u2019s existence is not only important for Europe\nbut also for the strategic interests of the United States itself. This\nrelationship is reciprocal and mutually beneficial.<\/p>\n
Rutte also highlighted the crucial role of the American nuclear\numbrella in safeguarding European regional security. He described this\nprotection as a determining factor in NATO\u2019s collective defence\nsystem.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe American nuclear umbrella is the primary security guarantee in\nEurope,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
