        "content": "<p>Escalating conflict in the Middle East region has prompted\nIndonesia\u2019s defence establishment to prepare contingency measures to\nmitigate domestic impacts. Most recently, TNI Commander General Agus\nSubiyanto issued a Level 1 alert order to all TNI units in response to\nglobal developments in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The commander\u2019s order was issued via official telegram to all ranks.\nThe Level 1 alert is intended to anticipate developments in the domestic\nsituation resulting from the impact of the Middle East conflict.<\/p>\n<p>The TNI stated that this measure was undertaken in accordance with\nits core functions. The order was contained in TNI Commander Telegram\nNumber TR\/283\/2026, signed by the TNI Commander\u2019s Operations Assistant,\nLieutenant General Bobby Rinal Makmun on 1 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Seven directives were issued to all TNI ranks:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li><p>The commanders of the TNI\u2019s Main Operations Command\n(Pangkotamaops) were ordered to place personnel and major weapons\nsystems on alert. Additionally, they were instructed to conduct patrols\nat strategic vital facilities and economic centres, including airports,\nseaports and inland waterways, railway stations, bus terminals, and\ncritical infrastructure such as the state electricity company.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>The National Air Defence Command (Kohanudnas) was ordered to\nconduct early warning detection and continuous 24-hour air\nsurveillance.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>The TNI\u2019s Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais) was instructed to\ndirect defence attach\u00e9s at Indonesian diplomatic missions in\nconflict-affected countries to record and map the status of Indonesian\ncitizens. Additionally, Bais was tasked with preparing evacuation plans\nif necessary, in coordination with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign\nAffairs and Indonesian diplomatic representatives in those\ncountries.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Kodam Jaya was ordered to increase patrols at various strategic\nvital facilities and embassies in Jakarta to maintain secure\nconditions.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>TNI intelligence units were instructed to conduct early warning\ndetection and prevention against potential security threats at vital\nfacilities and embassy areas.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>All TNI central executive bodies (Balakpus) were ordered to\nimplement alert readiness in their respective units.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>All developments in the field situation must be immediately\nreported to the TNI Commander.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The TNI Headquarters issued an explanation regarding the issuance of\nthe commander\u2019s telegram. The TNI stated that this action was taken in\naccordance with its core function to protect the Indonesian nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI must convey that in accordance with the mandate of the TNI Law,\none of the TNI\u2019s core functions is to protect the entire nation and all\nof Indonesian territory from threats and disturbances to national and\nstate integrity,\u201d explained TNI Public Information Chief Brigadier\nGeneral Aulia Dwi Nasrullah to journalists on Sunday, 8 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Aulia assured that the TNI would perform its duties professionally\nand remain ready. He stated that the TNI is prepared to anticipate the\nimpacts resulting from the United States-Israel-Iran conflict.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe TNI performs its duties professionally and responsively, which\nis realised through continuously maintaining its capabilities and\nstrength to remain operationally ready, and to stand alert in\nanticipating developments in the international, regional and national\nstrategic environments,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccordingly, the TNI must maintain a high operational alert level,\none aspect of which is conducting regular readiness verification\nbriefings,\u201d he added.<\/p>",
