        "content": "<p>Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, prices of essential commodities in\nseveral traditional markets have crept upwards, including red chillies,\neggs, rice, garlic, chicken, beef, and vegetables. This rise is due to\nincreased purchasing power but constrained supply caused by weather\nfactors.<\/p>\n<p>Dinda (44), a resident of Kalektoran, Indihiang Subdistrict,\nTasikmalaya City, West Java, stated that prices of various essentials in\ntraditional markets are rising ahead of Eid, despite the local\ngovernment\u2019s recent cheap food movement (GPM) having no impact.<\/p>\n<p>The increases in essentials have begun with red chillies, eggs,\nshallots, garlic, chicken, beef, and premium rice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe current essentials situation is widely complained about by\nbuyers because of the significant rises, such as bird\u2019s eye chillies at\nRp95,000, local red chillies at Rp70,000, Japlak red chillies at\nRp95,000, curly red chillies at Rp70,000, and lamb chillies at Rp110,000\nper kg. However, vegetables like beans, carrots, cauliflower, water\nspinach, and tomatoes have risen by Rp1,500,\u201d she said on Friday\n(20\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the rises in essentials ahead of Eid among various\ntraders include beef sold at Rp160,000 to Rp180,000 per kg, chicken at\nRp48,000 per kg, medium rice at Rp13,500, premium rice at Rp14,000 to\nRp16,000, eggs at Rp32,000, bulk cooking oil at Rp24,000 per kg, and\npackaged Minyakita at Rp20,000 per kg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTraders reason that the weather over the past few days has caused\nmany fields to be buried in landslides and floods, and some are waiting\nfor harvest time. However, demand is starting to rise for items like\nshallots at Rp45,000, garlic previously sold at Rp48,000, chicken at\nRp48,000, and beef at Rp180,000 per kg,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Solihin, 55, a beef seller at Cikurubuk Market, said that\nprices for slaughter cattle needs ahead of Eid 1447 H have crept up from\npreviously Rp140,000 to Rp150,000, now reaching Rp180,000 per kg, and\nprices usually change after Eid. The beef price increase is because\ntraders are selling their last stock and there are not many buyers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe beef price rises that occur in every region for traders have\npersisted. However, the beef price increase has long been happening,\nfrom previously Rp110,000 per kg to Rp125,000, and now Rp180,000; beef\nrises usually occur ahead of Idulfitri,\u201d he explained.
