        "content": "<p>Beddu named ASAE chief<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Beddu Amang, the chairman of the National<br>\nLogistics Agency, has been elected president of the Asian Society<br>\nof Agricultural Economists (ASAE) for a three-year term.<\/p>\n<p>Masykur Sulaiman, a spokesman for the agency, announced on<br>\nMonday that Beddu had been unanimously elected at the second ASAE<br>\nconference in Denpasar, Bali last week.<\/p>\n<p>The conference, which discussed prospects for the Asian<br>\nagriculture sector in the 21st century, was also attended by<br>\nIndonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economy and Finance Saleh<br>\nAfiff.<\/p>\n<p>Masykur said that the Federation of Indonesian Agricultural<br>\nEconomists, which also held their ninth congress in Denpasar last<br>\nweek, also unanimously elected Beddu as its chairman for another<br>\nthree-year term, which will end in 1999.
