The conditional release of Muhammad Subchi Azal Tsani, also known as\nMas Bechi, who was convicted of sexually abusing and raping a female\nstudent at an Islamic boarding school, has been revoked by the Ministry\nof Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas).<\/p>\n
The son of a cleric in Jombang, East Java, had previously been\ngranted conditional release on 15 August 2026 for good behaviour.<\/p>\n
After the release was revoked, Bechi was returned to Malang Class I\nPrison to serve his prison sentence.<\/p>\n
Fathorrosi, head of the Malang Class I Probation and Correctional\nCentre (Bapas), said the centre received the decision revoking Bechi\u2019s\nconditional-release programme from the East Java Regional Office of the\nDirectorate General of Corrections earlier this week.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe received the decision revoking the release of our client through\nthe East Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections\non Tuesday, 6 October 2026,\u201d Fathorrosi told reporters on Thursday (8\nJanuary).<\/p>\n
The centre informed Bechi of the revocation when he reported to it as\nrequired today. He was then taken back to Malang Prison.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, the person concerned, our client named Bechi, came in to\nreport as required. We communicated the decision to him in a persuasive\nmanner, and today we also took him directly to Malang Prison, with\nassistance from prison officers,\u201d Fathorrosi said.<\/p>\n
The Malang probation centre had previously said Bechi\u2019s conditional\nrelease was granted in accordance with applicable legislation, including\nLaw No.\u00a022 of 2022 on Corrections.<\/p>\n
Bechi, who was serving a sentence for sexual abuse and rape, had\nserved two-thirds of his term and had behaved well, making him eligible\nfor consideration for conditional release.<\/p>\n
A series of procedures had to be completed before the release could\nbe granted, including an assessment by the Correctional Observers Team\ntogether with Malang Class I Prison.<\/p>\n
The conditional release was then authorised through a ministerial\ndecision, which was forwarded to the Malang probation centre for the\nsubsequent procedures.<\/p>\n
Bechi was sentenced to seven years in prison and had served nearly\nthree years, including time at Malang Class I Prison.<\/p>\n
Christo Victor Nixon Toar, then head of Malang Class I Prison,\npreviously said Bechi\u2019s conditional release was not a unilateral\ndecision, but was based on careful consideration and an official\nrecommendation from the Correctional Observers Team.<\/p>\n
During his time behind bars at Malang Class I Prison, Bechi was\nassessed as having shown positive behavioural changes and a cooperative\nattitude.<\/p>\n
Christo said Bechi, who had been detained since 8 July 2022, was held\nat several facilities before being transferred to Malang Class I\nPrison.<\/p>\n
