Becak driver named Gus Dur's guest<\/p>\n
PADANG, West Sumatra. An unlikely pair, Adriyasman, a becak
\n(three-wheel pedicab) driver, and Indriani, a cowherd, may be
\npart of the story of poverty in the countryside, but their
\nsuccess in family planning program will take them to a state
\nhonor.<\/p>\n
The pair will represent West Sumatra in a function at the
\nState Palace to be hosted by President Abdurrahman Wahid on June
\n29 in commemoration of National Family Day.<\/p>\n
Gus Dur, as the President is popularly known, will receive
\nrepresentatives of the country's 27 provinces during the
\ncelebration.<\/p>\n
\"The pair have been chosen because of their success in the
\nfamily planning program. They have used implant contraception
\ndevices for four years,\" West Sumatra National Family Planning
\nBoard (BKKBN) office, H.A. Lufti Sabrie told Antara on Monday.<\/p>\n
Lufti said his office will involve the Minangkabau local
\ncustoms board and Bundo Kanduang women's council to empower the
\nfamily planning program.<\/p>\n
He said the celebration will be held in cooperation with
\nseveral non-governmental organizations, such as the Indonesian
\nHome Economic Association (IHEA) and the Community Nutrition and
