BDF expands plant<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The ministry of health's director general of
\ndrug and food control, Sampurno, inaugurated on Monday the
\nexpansion of factory and warehouse facilities of pharmaceutical,
\nmedical devices and cosmetic producer PT Beiersdorf Indonesia
\n(BDF) in Singosari, Malang, East Java.<\/p>\n
BDF's president Robert Menzies said the expansion was
\nnecessary to enable the company to meet the increasing local
\nmarket demands as well as an increase in exports to other Asian
\ncountries by 50 percent.<\/p>\n
\"We are convinced and very optimistic that the Indonesian
\neconomic conditions will eventually improve. That is the reason
\nwe have invested Rp 20 billion (US$1.88 million) for the
\nexpansion of our factories. With the new facilities, our
\nproduction capacity will be doubled,\" Menzies said.<\/p>\n
He said the expansion projects included the addition of new
\nfactory facilities for its adhesive wound covering Hansaplast and
\nskin care product Nivea.<\/p>\n
BDF Indonesia, established in 1976, is a subsidiary of German
\npharmaceutical giant Beiersdorf AG. (gis)<\/p>",
