The bank highlights that even small amounts, starting from Rp 10,000, can be used to implement an averaging strategy to mitigate market volatility.

The public does not need to wait until they have surplus funds to
start investing. Investment can be carried out incrementally by setting
aside funds regularly and with discipline.

EVP of Wealth Management at BCA, Indrawwan, noted that there is still
a prevailing notion that investment can only occur once all needs are
met and extra funds are available. According to him, this mindset needs
to be changed.

“Investment does not have to wait for leftover money. Sometimes
people hold the principle that if there is leftover or extra money, we
can invest it. It should be the other way around,” Indrawwan stated
during a press conference at the BCA Wealth Summit 2026 in Jakarta on
Wednesday (9/9/2026).

He mentioned that the public can begin investing by setting aside
funds periodically. The investment amount does not necessarily have to
be large; at BCA, for example, investment can start from as little as Rp
10,000.

“So, instead of thinking every month, ‘oh, it’s all gone, it’s all
gone,’ you reverse it. And another thing, to ensure continuity, one
certainly needs the discipline to do so,” said Indrawwan.

According to him, regular investing can also assist investors in
performing dollar-cost averaging. This is because no one can guarantee
when market conditions will rise or fall.

“If we knew, we would all be rich. We would buy when the position is
down and sell when it is up. But we don’t know,” he added.

Therefore, Indrawwan believes the safer method is to invest
periodically. In this way, investors do not need to wait for what is
perceived to be the most opportune time to enter the market.

“What is actually the safest way? It is through averaging. So,
roughly speaking, we could buy Rp 10,000 every day,” he said.

Nevertheless, he reminded the public that investments must still be
adjusted to their risk profile and time horizon. Investors need to
understand how long the funds will be invested and the level of risk
they can tolerate.

“The important thing is having the courage to start first. Once you
have the courage to start, it comes back to those two basic concepts:
risk profile and time horizon,” concluded Indrawwan.
",
