BCA ATMs<\/p>\n
Having recently experienced a similar case of Erratic BCA ATMs
\n(The Jakarta Post, Nov. 9), I was interested to read Mrs.
\nSusmumfaatiningsih's letter on this same subject.<\/p>\n
On the evening of Aug. 20, I made a single withdrawal of Rp
\n500,000 from a BCA ATM situated in the lobby of the World Trade
\nCenter. However, having completed my transaction, I was surprised
\nto discover that my remaining account balance was less than I
\nexpected.<\/p>\n
Upon checking with BCA the following day, I was informed that
\ntheir records showed that I had completed two withdrawals of Rp
\n500,000 -- supposedly within a minute of each other -- not one.<\/p>\n
Eager to clarify this obvious discrepancy, I arranged a
\nmeeting with BCA's customer service manager, only to be informed
\nthat their ATM system was completely \"infallible,\" that a
\ndiscrepancy of this nature was absolutely \"unprecedented,\" and
\nthat clearly, I had been \"mistaken\". What could I say in
\nresponse? Where was my evidence to the contrary?<\/p>\n
The manager did, however, promise faithfully that he would
\nlook into this matter further and advise me of his findings.
\nNeedless to say, I have heard nothing since.<\/p>\n
