Semarang \u2014 The Central Java and Yogyakarta Regional Office of the\nNational Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN) under the Public Works\nMinistry has mapped at least 46 congestion hotspots along the\nnorthbound, central, and southbound corridors during the 2026 Lebaran\nholiday season traffic surge.<\/p>\n
The head of BBPJN Central Java-DIY, Moch Iqbal Tamher, stated that\nthe congestion hotspots are concentrated around markets, railway level\ncrossings, congested intersections, and toll road entry and exit points.\n\u201cWe have mapped all these points comprehensively. Personnel and\nequipment have been prepared to minimise potential disruptions to\nholiday traffic flows,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The northbound coastal corridor (pantura) emerges as the most\ncritical route, accommodating long-distance vehicles travelling from\nwest to east, including logistics trucks and intercity buses. The\norganisation has also identified 23 disaster-prone zones: 14 flood-prone\nand 9 landslide-prone areas. Flood risk zones include Kaligawe Road in\nSemarang, the Sayung stretch at the Semarang-Demak border, Walisongo\nRoad, and the Kendal section along the Pantura corridor. Additional\nflood-prone areas have been identified in Brebes, Tegal\/Banyumas border\nregions, Sidareja, Sampang, Klampok in Banjarnegara, Klaten\u2019s southern\nring road, and Palur in Sragen. These stretches typically lie in\nlow-lying areas or regions with histories of inundation from\nhigh-intensity rainfall and tidal flooding.<\/p>\n
Landslide-prone zones are predominantly located along the southern\ncorridor and hilly regions, including the West Java-Karangpucung border,\nAjibarang-Wangon, Patikraja-Rawalo areas, and the Banjarnegara-Wonosobo\nborder. Unstable soil characteristics and hilly terrain are the primary\nfactors contributing to landslide risk, particularly during heavy\nrainfall periods.<\/p>\n
To address potential disruptions, BBPJN has positioned four emergency\nresponse units in Pekalongan, Karangjati, Buntu, and Yogyakarta.\nEquipment deployed includes excavators, wheel loaders, motor graders,\nsmall and articulated dump trucks, cold milling machines, asphalt\nfinishers, and truck trailers.
