        "content": "<p>Ba&apos;asyir sentence demand stands<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Prosecutors reiterated their demand on Monday that <br>\nthe Central Jakarta District Court sentence Muslim cleric Abu <br>\nBakar Ba&apos;asyir to 15 years in jail.<\/p>\n<p>Chief prosecutor Hasan Madani told the court evidence was <br>\nsolid to prove the defendant&apos;s guilt in subversion and violating <br>\nimmigration law, such that he deserved to remain in jail for 15 <br>\nyears.<\/p>\n<p>Ba&apos;asyir, who chairs the hard-line Muslim group Mujahidin <br>\nIndonesia Council (MMI), had denied accusations of plotting to <br>\nassassinate then vice president Megawati Soekarnoputri in 1999, <br>\nwhich the prosecutors said was aimed at toppling the legitimate <br>\ngovernment. He is also charged with manipulating counterfeiting?  <br>\na passport while in exile in Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>Presiding judge Mohammad Sholeh adjourned the trial until <br>\nWednesday.
