Sumedang (ANTARA) - The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Sumedang\nRegency, West Java, distributed 3,000 basic food parcels to mustahik\nsourced from zakat of Civil Servants (ASN) within the Sumedang Regency\nGovernment.<\/p>\n
Baznas Sumedang chair Ayi Subhan Hafas, in Sumedang, on Thursday,\nsaid the distribution was carried out to ensure zakat is channelled to\nthe right recipients and has a direct impact on those in need.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are distributing this ASN zakat to 3,000 beneficiaries, including\nvolunteers, contract workers, cleaners, and fire brigade personnel who\nare still classified as mustahik,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He explained that the recipients are those who have not yet achieved\npermanent employee status and still fall into the eligible category for\nzakat and are focused on the nearest communities so that the benefits\nare more tangible and controllable.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe zakat funds entrusted by muzakki are not only distributed in the\nform of consumptive assistance, but also in the form of empowerment\nprogrammes so that the recipients can be more self-reliant,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
In addition to the distribution of basic foods, Baznas Sumedang also\nlaunched empowerment programmes for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises\n(MSMEs), business capital assistance, free healthcare services, as well\nas various other social activities during Ramadan.<\/p>\n
