Jakarta (ANTARA) -\nThe National Zakat Collection Agency (Baznas) RI and the Ministry of\nVillages and Underdeveloped Regions (Kemendes PDT) have agreed to\nstrengthen rural economic ecosystems through the integration of zakat\nmanagement programmes targeting thousands of villages across Indonesia.\n\u201cFor the pilot, we already have a role model \u2018zakat village\u2019 in Ciamis\nwhere the community has high zakat awareness, and that area will become\none of our main references. In addition to Ciamis, in the near future we\nproject Serang Regency as the next development area to strengthen the\nstrategic collaboration between Baznas and Kemendes,\u201d said Baznas RI\nChairman Sodik Mudjahid in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. Sodik\noutlined various collaborative programmes to be implemented, such as the\nestablishment of Village Zakat Collection Units (UPZ Desa). This step is\nconsidered the most crucial strategy to optimise the potential of zakat\ndirectly from the smallest environment. In addition, there is\ncollaboration touching the productive sector, such as village livestock\ndevelopment through the Baznas Livestock Centre programme and\nstrengthening the economy of residents through synergy with cooperatives\nat the village level. \u201cOne of the most strategic from Baznas is the\nestablishment of UPZ Desa. That\u2019s the concern or strategy of Baznas\ntogether with the Minister of Villages today to collaborate on\nprogrammes such as livestock centres and village cooperatives so they\ncan be empowered in the villages,\u201d said Sodik Mudjahid. Meanwhile,\nMinister of Villages PDT Yandri Susanto expressed high appreciation for\nthe collaborative initiative with Baznas RI, which he views as highly\naligned with the ministry\u2019s vision in building villages. He sees the\nintegration of empowerment programmes like UPZ Desa as a strategic step\nto strengthen the economic independence of rural communities through\ntargeted management of philanthropic funds.
