        "content": "<p>Tangerang (ANTARA) - The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) held Baznas\nStrategic Development (BSD) training attended by Baznas leaders across\nBanten province to improve the competence of zakat administrators, from\ncollection and management through to distribution.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Chairman of Baznas RI, Zainut Tauhid Sa\u2019adi, explained in\nTangerang on Monday that BSD is organised by the Baznas education and\ntraining centre so that zakat recipients (mustahik) can become\nempowered.<\/p>\n<p>According to Zainut, improving the competence of zakat administrators\nencourages the community to show concern, empathy and awareness in\nfulfilling their obligation to pay zakat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFostering public awareness to pay zakat,\u201d said Zainut at the Banten\nProvincial Hajj Dormitory, Grand El Hajj, Cipondoh, Tangerang City.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Banten Deputy Governor A Dimyati Natakusumah asked the\nmanagement of the Baznas provincial office in Banten to improve its\ncompetence in collecting, managing and distributing zakat as part of\nefforts to alleviate poverty.<\/p>\n<p>Dimyati said that for Muslims, zakat is the third pillar of Islam. He\nexpressed confidence that Muslims would fulfil their obligation to pay\nzakat, but noted that the public would judge the competence of those\nmanaging it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor this reason, Baznas must have a strategy for its collection and\ndistribution,\u201d said Dimyati.<\/p>\n<p>Dimyati hoped that each year Baznas Banten would be able to\nstrengthen its role as zakat administrators. \u201cIncreasing its collection,\nincreasing its distribution, and also increasing the benefits for its\nrecipients,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Wawan said that zakat efforts require more than announcements and\nappeals; they need proper management. \u201cAdministrators with integrity.\nClear programmes.
