Padang (ANTARA) - The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of the Republic\nof Indonesia has distributed Baznas scholar scholarships worth Rp1.5\nbillion to underprivileged students within the scope of Andalas\nUniversity (Unand) in West Sumatra as an effort to support President\nPrabowo Subianto\u2019s Asta Cita programme.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis initiative also aligns with the mission of Asta Cita point four\nin preparing an elite generation towards Golden Indonesia 2045,\u201d said\nthe head of Baznas RI\u2019s Distribution and Utilisation Division, Idy\nMuzayyad, in Padang on Friday.<\/p>\n
According to him, productive zakat management has proven capable of\ndriving improvements in human resource quality. This is evident from\nBaznas scholar scholarship alumni who have contributed in various\nsectors.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome alumni have even transformed into muzakis and returned to\ncontribute through zakat to help other communities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He stated that the success of these scholar scholarship alumni will\ncontinue, especially in the education sector. He hopes that this step\ncan contribute to realising Golden Indonesia in 2045.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the cycle of goodness that we want to continue building,\nfrom mustahik to muzaki through the path of education,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Rp1.5 billion scholar scholarship assistance consists of zakat\nfunds from ParagonCorp channelled through Baznas. This assistance is\ngiven to support various education and social programmes, including\nscholarships for 214 students from Aceh and Sumatra affected by\ndisasters.<\/p>\n
Scholar scholarships represent a concrete solution in expanding\naccess to inclusive, equitable, and just higher education. Baznas views\nsupport from the private sector as an important factor in strengthening\nthe impact of the programme.<\/p>\n
\u201cBaznas welcomes ParagonCorp\u2019s fulfilment of corporate zakat while\ncontributing to the sustainability of student education, especially in\ndisaster-affected areas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Baznas is also continuing to expand the reach of the scholar\nscholarship programme by collaborating with 223 educational institutions\ndomestically, as well as developing programmes to overseas locations\nsuch as Russia and the Middle East. This step is part of Baznas\u2019s\ncommitment to building a broad, inclusive, and sustainable education\necosystem.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Unand Rector Efa Yonnedi appreciated Baznas and\nParagonCorp for the initiative in expanding access to education for\nstudents from low-income families.<\/p>\n
