The National Board of Zakat (Baznas), through its disaster response\nunit (BTB), is actively assisting in the search and rescue efforts for a\ngroup of journalists who lost contact in the waters of the Sundable\nStrait, Carita District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten.<\/p>\n
The group consists of five journalists and three crew members\nreported missing while covering activities related to Mount Anak\nKrakatau. Search efforts are being conducted by a joint SAR team across\nthe Sunda Strait waters.<\/p>\n
Idy Muzayyad, Head of Distribution, Utilisation, and Empowerment at\nBaznas RI, stated that Baznas\u2019 involvement is part of a humanitarian\nresponse to support the search and rescue process.<\/p>\n
\u201cBaznas continues to strive to be present in emergency and\nhumanitarian situations. In conditions such as this, we support the\nsearch and rescue efforts alongside relevant agencies to ensure the\nhandling process proceeds effectively,\u201d Idy said in a written statement\nin Jakarta on Friday (11\/9).<\/p>\n
Idy emphasised that cross-agency coordination is a vital component of\nevery disaster response undertaken by Baznas.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn its implementation, we continue to coordinate with all parties\ninvolved in the field. We hope the entire search process can run\noptimally and that the journalists and crew members can be found safe\nand sound,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday (9\/9), the Banten BTB conducted site assessments and\ncoordinated with the National SAR Operation Post, the Pandeglang Police,\nand the Pandeglang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). The\nBaznas team is also synergising with the Banten Provincial SAR, Banten\nRegional Police, BPBD Pandeglang, and the Banten Volunteer Desk to\nsupport the rescue operations.<\/p>\n
The joint SAR team has expanded the search area for the five\njournalists and three crew members to cover 3,243 nautical miles. The\nIndonesian Navy (TNI AL) has deployed ships and thermal drones, and has\nalready discovered life jackets and floating bottles, which Basarnas is\ncurrently identifying.<\/p>\n
Basarnas Head Mohammad Syafii has urged local residents assisting in\nthe search to strictly follow safety procedures. Basarnas has confirmed\nthat the Search and Rescue (SAR) operations for the group lost in the\nSunda Strait waters will be optimised over a seven-day period.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI),\nPuan Maharani, has requested that the search operation for the group\nnear Mount Anak Krakatau be maximised with full support from the\nIndonesian Navy.
