Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi directly inspected the readiness\nof the functional toll road segment on Bawen-Ambarawa, also known as the\nYogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road Section 6, on Tuesday 10 March. Alongside\nthis section, the Solo-Yogyakarta toll road through Prambanan will also\nbecome operational for the Eid period this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are making these two toll sections operational to prevent\ncongestion and bottlenecks. Typically, Bawen becomes very crowded during\npeak exodus periods,\u201d Luthfi said in a written statement on Tuesday 10\nMarch 2026.<\/p>\n
For now, the Bawen-Ambarawa toll section opening functionally for\nexodus traffic is Lane A, which runs from Bawen towards Ambarawa.\nSubsequently, the return traffic on Lane B (Ambarawa-Bawen) will also\nopen functionally. The toll section measures approximately 4.98\nkilometres, extending from the Bawen toll exit to the Ambarawa toll\nexit.<\/p>\n
\u201cLane A will begin functional operations on 13 March, whilst Lane B\nwill open on 23 March,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Two security posts will be established on this route\u2014one at the Bawen\ntoll exit and one at the Ambarawa exit. Both posts will be staffed by\nofficials from the Transportation Department and Police.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause road signage and lighting remain incomplete, the functional\ntoll will not operate 24 hours. Operational hours will be from 06:00 to\n18:00,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Luthfi also disclosed preparations for Central Java\u2019s\nPantura coastal route for the 2026 Eid exodus and return journey. His\noffice has already conducted cross-sectoral coordination meetings. The\nCentral Java Police have also prepared a valet ride service for\ntravellers using two-wheeled vehicles.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe police in Brebes have prepared trucks to transport motorcycles.\nPassengers will be transported by bus to their destination. This is\nbeing done because the bottleneck for motorcycle travellers is severe\nwhen entering Central Java,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Luthfi appealed to people planning to travel home to exercise caution\non the road. There is no need to rush whilst driving, and if tired,\ntravellers should rest immediately at rest areas or exit the toll\nroad.<\/p>\n
\u201cBe careful because your family is waiting at home,\u201d he urged.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Central Java\u2019s Transportation Department Head Arief\nDjatmiko stated that the Bawen-Ambarawa toll route has been inspected\ntogether with Jasa Marga and Police. The functional opening of the\nBawen-Ambarawa toll will reduce congestion or vehicle accumulation at\nBawen Junction. In addition, traffic management measures will be\nimplemented at that location.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat junction is already very congested. Traffic engineering will be\nimplemented to prevent congestion and accumulation there. Some vehicles\nwill be directed here, particularly those heading towards Magelang and\nYogyakarta, so they do not exit at the Bawen toll exit,\u201d he\nexplained.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, preparations of roads in Central Java for exodus and\nreturn traffic continue to accelerate. Head of the Department of Public\nWorks and Spatial Planning Henggar Budi Anggoro explained that road\nimprovements are being expedited. One effort involves filling potholes\nto guarantee road user safety.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the Semarang-Godong road that was disconnected, concrete pouring\nhas been completed, and we are awaiting curing.
