        "content": "<p>Batam lacks prosecutors<\/p>\n<p>BATAM, Riau: The State Prosecutor's Office in Batam, Riau,<br>\nsaid on Wednesday that a lack of prosecutors was impeding the law<br>\nenforcement process on Batam island, Riau province.<\/p>\n<p>He said that his office could tackle only 30 percent of the<br>\ncases submitted to it in 2002.<\/p>\n<p>\"I have made some proposals seeking additional prosecutors<br>\nfrom the Attorney General's Office but so far none have been<br>\nappointed,\" Zulkarnain said.<\/p>\n<p>The State Prosecutor's Office on the island had been working<br>\nwith only eleven prosecutors since 1997.<\/p>\n<p>\"Every prosecutor has to handle up to seven cases per week.<br>\nThe have no time off.
