Batam hosts seminar on Croatia<\/p>\n
BATAM: Batam Industrial Development Authority (BIDA) hosted a
\nseminar on Thursday to promote cooperation between Batam and
\nCroatia in Batam city, Riau Islands.<\/p>\n
Croatian Embassy's minister Andelko Simic presented a lecture
\non: The Economic Bridge between Europe and ASEAN, particularly
\nCroatia and Batam.<\/p>\n
The one-day seminar -- which was opened by Mochamad Rijanto,
\nBIDA's deputy of administration and planning and attended by
\nbusinessmen, tour operators, scholars and officials -- emphasized
\nthe need to improve transportation communications between
\nCroatia's Rijeka Port and Batam Port.<\/p>\n
\"Both these ports (Rijeka and Batam) would be able to
\nrepresent the sea gate to Eastern and Central Europe and ASEAN,\"
\nsaid Simic, who is also the Croatia's special representative to
\nthe Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).<\/p>\n
Being a top tourist destination in Europe, Croatia can
\ncooperate with Indonesia, especially Batam in many ways to
\npromote the tourist industry.<\/p>\n
