Surabaya (ANTARA) - Basarnas chief Mohammad Syafii said weather\nconditions in the waters off Sumenep, near the location of the KMP\nMutiara Sentosa II fire, posed one of the challenges in evacuating\nvictims.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know that at the time of the incident, weather conditions in the\nwaters were far from good. That is why the evacuation process took time,\nbut thank God, within a day all the victims present could be evacuated\nwith the help of passing ships,\u201d he said when contacted at Tanjung Perak\nPort in Surabaya on Monday.<\/p>\n
He stated that the victims who were found could still be evacuated\nthanks to the assistance of vessels near the scene of the incident.<\/p>\n
He said Basarnas also made use of an application to help SAR vessels\ncarry out the search pattern.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat becomes input or consideration for determining the pattern of\noperations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Basarnas assured that the search operation would continue until there\nwas certainty based on data verification and official reports from all\nrelevant parties.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope that all the victims have been found, so that the search\ndoes not turn up any more victims,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The KMP Mutiara Sentosa II fire occurred in the waters north of\nSumenep Regency on Sunday (2\/8).
