        "content": "<p>Basarnas Keeps Helicopter on Standby in Virgo 8 Search<\/p>\n<p>Reporter<\/p>\n<p>September 20, 2026 | 12:14 pm<\/p>\n<p>TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia\u2019s National Search and Rescue Agency\n(Basarnas) has stationed an HR 36012 helicopter offshore for emergency\nevacuations if search teams find more victims of the KM Virgo Transport\n8 ship accident.<\/p>\n<p>I Putu Sudayana, head of the Banjarmasin Search and Rescue Office and\nSAR mission coordinator, said the aircraft was on standby to support\nevacuations from the wide search area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne aircraft is on standby for evacuations if more victims are\nfound,\u201d he said at Trisakti Port in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, on\nSaturday, September 19, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>On the seventh day, maritime search teams divided the operation into\nfour sectors covering about 6,200 square nautical miles, while the\nhelicopter covered one sector primarily for evacuation support.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, search teams found an empty life raft as the KN SAR\nWisanggeni 236 searched around the site of the KM Virgo Transport 8\naccident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbout nine liferafts have been found. Six washed ashore in Seruyan,\nCentral Kalimantan, while the other three were found near the wreck in\nthe Java Sea,\u201d Sudayana said.<\/p>\n<p>As of 1 p.m. local time Saturday, Basarnas had confirmed 117 victims,\nincluding 108 survivors and nine fatalities.
