        "content": "<p>Cilegon (ANTARA) \u2013 Basarnas Banten said all passengers aboard the\nfire-stricken KM Batumandi had been safely evacuated by joint teams at\nthe scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegarding the latest developments in the KM Batumandi accident, the\ninformation we have received is that all passengers have been\nevacuated,\u201d Rizky Dwianto, Head of Operations and Readiness at Basarnas\nBanten, said in Cilegon on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that passengers were evacuated in stages using various\nferry and rescue vessels, including patrol boats, fishing boats,\ninflatable boats and Basarnas Banten\u2019s rigid inflatable boat (RIB). They\nwere then taken to Executive Pier 6 at Merak Port.<\/p>\n<p>Basarnas Banten is still working intensively with relevant agencies\nto confirm the number of passengers and check the ship\u2019s manifest. \u201cWe\nare continuing to coordinate on the manifest with the relevant\nstakeholders, including ASDP and the Harbormaster and Port Authority\n[KSOP],\u201d Rizky added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome fires are still burning. That is now the joint team\u2019s focus, so\nthey can be extinguished as soon as possible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The fire broke out aboard the KMP Batumandi near Merak Besar Island\nas the vessel was manoeuvring towards Berth VI at Merak Port in Cilegon\nat around 14:52 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).<\/p>\n<p>ASDP Corporate Secretary Windy Andale said the vessel had departed\nBakauheni Port at around 14:52 WIB. At about 16:15 WIB, shore-based\npersonnel spotted sparks at the rear stern of the vessel, on the upper\ndeck used to carry small vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the fire has not yet been established. ASDP said it\nwould support the authorities\u2019 investigation and provide regular updates\nbased on verified information from the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Passenger and crew safety is ASDP\u2019s top priority, the company said.\nIt is continuing to provide the necessary support and ensure that the\nincident is handled swiftly and in a coordinated manner, with safety as\nthe foremost concern.<\/p>",
