Deputy Chief of Bareskrim Polri, Irjen Nunung Syarifuddin, has\naffirmed that his agency will take firm action against those misusing\nsubsidised fuel (BBM) and LPG. He stated there will be no tolerance for\nparties exploiting subsidies for personal gain.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the perpetrators, if you persist, we will crack down. We are not\nplaying around,\u201d Nunung said during a press conference at Bhayangkara\nField, National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, on Tuesday\n(7\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
He urged all parties to prevent the misuse of subsidised energy. He\nemphasised that the distribution of BBM and subsidised LPG must be\nstrictly monitored to ensure it reaches the intended targets.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe support energy efficiency and oversee the distribution of\nsubsidised BBM and LPG to ensure it reaches the people who truly need\nit,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
According to him, the misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG is not just a\nlegal violation. He said it also constitutes a betrayal of the public\nentitled to state assistance.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy message to the perpetrators: stop immediately these activities\nthat severely harm the state and the public. You are not only betraying\nthe state but also the people who need it,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
Nunung stated that the enforcement measures are direct orders from\nPresident Prabowo Subianto to National Police Chief Jenderal Listyo\nSigit Prabowo. He assured that Bareskrim personnel are ready to take\nfirm action against these illegal practices.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a direct order from the President, then passed to the\nNational Police Chief, so there is no doubt for us at Bareskrim and the\nprovincial police to take firm action,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
He stressed that case revelations will be impartial. Polri is also\ncollaborating with the TNI, including military police elements, to\nstrengthen law enforcement.<\/p>\n
\u201cEspecially against our members and TNI members, as conveyed by the\nDeputy Chief of Staff of the Navy Police, for any personnel still\nengaging in illegal acts such as misusing subsidised BBM and LPG, we\nwill take firm action,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n
Previously, Bareskrim had uncovered 755 cases of subsidised BBM and\nLPG misuse throughout 2025 and early 2026. There were 672 suspects\narrested.<\/p>\n
These illegal practices potentially caused state losses of up to Rp\n1.26 trillion. He said losses from subsidised BBM misuse amounted to\napproximately Rp 516.8 billion, while losses from subsidised LPG misuse\nreached approximately Rp 749.2 billion.<\/p>\n
