The Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian\nNational Police has thwarted the circulation of sweets containing the\nnarcotic delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in Malang, East Java. Police\nalso arrested a suspect named Abram Jetro Endiera.<\/p>\n
The case began on Tuesday (18\/8\/2026), when the Sub-Directorate III\nof the Directorate of Narcotics Crime at Bareskrim received information\nfrom Pasar Baru Customs regarding a suspicious package sent from the\nUnited Kingdom to Indonesia. The recipient of the package was recorded\nwith the initials SH in Malang. Officers then inspected the package.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe package contained three pouches of the AI brand, each containing\n10 candy sweets. After laboratory testing by Customs, it was determined\nthat the candy sweets contained a Class I narcotic of the\ndelta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol type,\u201d said Brigadier General Eko Hadi\nSantoso, Director of Narcotics Crime at Bareskrim, in his statement on\nTuesday (25\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
On Wednesday (19\/8), officers together with Pasar Baru Customs\npersonnel travelled to Malang to carry out a controlled delivery of the\npackage. On Sunday (23\/8) at 20.00 WIB, it was discovered that the\npackage recipient had paid the bill using a virtual account.<\/p>\n
Police then coordinated with the Malang post office to dispatch the\npackage. Together with a courier, police delivered the package to a\nhouse in Jatimulyo Sub-district, Lowokwaru District, Malang.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Sub-Directorate III team of the Directorate of Narcotics Crime\ntogether with the Pasar Baru Customs team arrested a man named Abram\nJetro Endiera who had collected the package containing candy sweets with\nthe Class I narcotic delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol from the Malang Post\nOffice courier,\u201d said Eko Hadi.<\/p>\n
After interrogation, Abram confirmed that the package belonged to\nhim. He had ordered the illicit goods through a website.<\/p>\n
\u201c(The suspect) had placed four orders for packages containing\nnarcotics,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
The suspect had ordered one pouch containing 10 candy sweets\nsuspected of containing THC on 4 March 2026. He then ordered one bar of\nchocolate suspected of containing THC on 31 March 2026.<\/p>\n
Subsequently, the suspect ordered a candle-like liquid suspected of\ncontaining THC on 21 May 2026. Most recently, on 19 August 2026, the\nsuspect ordered three packets of the AI brand, each containing 10 candy\nsweets suspected of containing THC.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on the statement of Abram Jetro Endiera, all packages\nsuspected of containing THC were intended for personal consumption,\u201d\nexplained Eko Hadi.<\/p>\n
The evidence seized included one package containing three packets of\ncandy sweets suspected of containing THC, 13 pieces of LSD chocolate\nsuspected of containing THC, one iPhone 14 Pro, and one HP OMEN\nlaptop.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe total gross weight of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol is 231 grams,\nwith an economic value if circulated reaching Rp693,000,000. The\nevidence is estimated to be able to save around 115 lives from narcotics\nabuse,\u201d said Eko Hadi.<\/p>\n
