JAKARTA - The Directorate of Specific Crimes (Dittipidter) of the\nNational Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has\nuncovered cases of misuse of subsidised fuel oil (BBM) and LPG in\nseveral regions across Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Deputy Chief of Bareskrim Polri, Inspector General Nunung Syaifuddin,\nstated that the uncovering of these cases took place over 13 days, from\n7 to 20 April 2026, with state losses reaching more than Rp 243\nbillion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe criminal act of misusing BBM and LPG has caused state financial\nlosses of approximately Rp 243,669,600,800 over 13 days,\u201d said Nunung\nduring a press conference at Bareskrim Polri in South Jakarta on Tuesday\n(21\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
During that period, police acted on 223 police reports (LP) involving\n330 suspects.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvidence seized includes: 403,158 litres of diesel, 58,656 litres of\nPertalite, 13,346 LPG cylinders, as well as 161 four-wheeled and\nsix-wheeled vehicles,\u201d Nunung revealed.<\/p>\n
He said that based on data from 2025\u20132026, 65 Public Fuel Filling\nStations (SPBU) were involved in the misuse of subsidised BBM.<\/p>\n
Of that number, 46 cases have been declared complete (P21), while 19\nothers are still under investigation.<\/p>\n
In this operation, Polri was also supported by the TNI Military\nPolice Centre (Puspom).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have committed that whoever is involved, whether TNI members or\nPolri members, we will take firm action. This is to give a deterrent\neffect to rogue elements and business actors,\u201d Nunung emphasised.<\/p>\n
According to him, this crime not only harms the state but also makes\nit difficult for the public to obtain BBM and LPG.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese perpetrators are not only betraying the state but also\nbetraying the public. I emphasise again, models like that will face us,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n
He added that Bareskrim is not only applying general criminal\narticles but also ensnaring perpetrators, financiers, receivers, and\nbehind-the-scenes actors with money laundering charges (TPPU).<\/p>\n
\u201cWhoever is involved, whether field perpetrators, capital owners,\nreceivers, or behind-the-scenes actors, we will pursue, act against, and\nprocess to completion. I have instructed investigators to charge them\nwith TPPU articles,\u201d Nunung stressed.<\/p>\n
Polri is also cooperating with the Financial Transaction Reports and\nAnalysis Centre (PPATK) to trace fund flows.<\/p>\n
Nunung reiterated that there will be no room for energy mafias to\noperate.<\/p>\n
