JAKARTA \u2014 Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Narcotics\nCrime at the Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim Polri) of the\nIndonesian National Police, has disclosed that narcotics suspect Erwin\nbin Iskandar, alias Ko Erwin, is a recidivist.<\/p>\n
Eko stated that Ko Erwin had previously been convicted in a narcotics\ncase in 2018 in Makassar.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, he is a recidivist because Erwin was previously convicted in\n2018 in Makassar,\u201d Eko said when met at the Bareskrim Polri building in\nJakarta on Friday, 27 February 2026.<\/p>\n
Ko Erwin had been listed as a wanted person (DPO) before finally\nbeing apprehended by the Bareskrim team when he allegedly attempted to\nflee to Malaysia via illegal maritime routes.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone may assert their rights, but that requires proof, and this\ncase has not yet achieved legal finality. A person is only declared\nguilty once sentenced by a court, so every person is equal before the\nlaw, yes?\u201d Eko said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone has the right to equal treatment under the law to present\ntheir defence,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Ko Erwin is now being held at the Bareskrim Polri building after\nbeing arrested in the North Sumatra region whilst attempting to escape\nto Malaysia.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvidence seized includes cash totalling Rp4,800,000, Malaysian\nringgit 20,000 in cash, one TAG Heuer watch and one Samsung mobile\nphone,\u201d Eko said.<\/p>\n
These items were secured when the suspect was attempting to enter\nMalaysian territorial jurisdiction.<\/p>\n
Erwin was apprehended on Thursday, 26 February 2026 at approximately\n13:30 Western Indonesia Time in the Pematang Silo area, Silo Laut\nDistrict, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra.<\/p>\n
