        "content": "<p>The Indonesian National Police\u2019s Criminal Investigation Agency\n(Bareskrim) has stated it is ready to support the Police\u2019s Corruption\nEradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) in investigating a case of alleged\ncorruption and money laundering related to the procurement of coal\nsupply for several coal-fired power plants (PLTU) for the 2018\u20132026\nperiod. \u201cOf course, we from Bareskrim will fully support the follow-up\nto the inquiry process which has now been upgraded to an investigation,\u201d\nsaid Head of Bareskrim, Commissioner General Syahardiantono, at the\nBareskrim Building in Jakarta on Monday. He stated that Bareskrim,\nthrough its Directorate of Specific Crimes (Dittipidter), will assist\nKortastipidkor investigators in the examination process, particularly\nregarding mining technicalities. \u201cWe will fully assist in the\nexamination of witnesses and support Kortastipidkor, especially in\nexaminations related to mining technicalities,\u201d he said. Kortastipidkor\nupgraded the status of the alleged corruption and money laundering case\nfrom an inquiry to an investigation on Saturday (4\/7). Head of\nKortastipidkor, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, said investigators\nfound alleged irregularities in the procurement and fulfilment of coal\nsupplies to the PLTUs by several companies involved, such as PT OBP and\nPT BRA. The alleged modus operandi in this case includes the\nmanipulation of documents regarding the quality of the coal supplied,\nmanipulation related to the quantity of coal supplied to the PLTUs, and\nirregularities resulting in payments or contract prices not matching the\nactual supply conditions. These schemes are also suspected of\ncontributing to the disruption of coal supplies, which led to blackouts\nin several regions of Indonesia, including parts of Sumatra, parts of\nKalimantan, Central Java, East Java, and parts of the Greater Jakarta\narea. As a result of these actions, combined with the economic losses\nrelated to the blackouts, state financial losses are indicated to be\napproximately Rp5 trillion. However, the real value of the state\nfinancial losses is currently in the process of being audited by the\nSupreme Audit Agency (BPK).<\/p>",
