The Directorate of Specific Criminal Acts (Dittipidter) of Bareskrim\nPolri has uncovered 755 cases of misuse of subsidised fuel (BBM) and LPG\nthroughout 2025-2026. These illegal practices are suspected to have\ncaused losses to the state amounting to Rp 1.26 trillion.<\/p>\n
\u201cCriminal acts involving the misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG have\nresulted in potential state financial leakages reaching Rp\n1,266,260,963,200,\u201d said Deputy Chief of Bareskrim Polri Irjen Nunung\nSyarifuddin during a press conference at the Bhayangkara Field of\nNational Police Headquarters in South Jakarta on Tuesday (7\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
He stated that the state losses due to the misuse of subsidised BBM\nare estimated at around Rp 516.8 billion. Meanwhile, losses from the\nmisuse of subsidised LPG are estimated at around Rp 749.2 billion.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith details of state losses from the misuse of subsidised BBM\namounting to Rp 516,812,530,200 and from subsidised LPG around Rp\n749,294,400,000,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Nunung noted that these figures demonstrate the significant impact of\ndeviations in the distribution of subsidised energy. He said that\nsubsidised energy should be utilised by those in need.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a quite significant figure that should allow subsidies for\nthese subsidised goods to be utilised or received by the\nunderprivileged, but they are being misused,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Nunung explained that the high rate of misuse is partly due to the\nprice difference between subsidised BBM and LPG and their non-subsidised\ncounterparts. He said that this price gap provides an opportunity for\nsuspects to gain personal profits.<\/p>\n
\u201cDue to the enticing profits, the price difference between subsidised\nand non-subsidised items is quite high, so irresponsible individuals\nexploit this price advantage to seek personal gains,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He added that Polri is taking steps to maintain the stability of\nenergy distribution, including securing the distribution routes for\nsubsidised BBM and LPG. Nunung emphasised that law enforcement against\nthe misuse of subsidised fuel is aimed at preventing state losses and\nproviding a deterrent effect for perpetrators.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis step is a preventive measure to prevent disruptions to public\norder and security that could lead to an energy crisis,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy final statement to the perpetrators: if you dare, I will crack\ndown. We are not playing around. The current situation is not good. If\nyou still dare to commit deviations in the distribution of subsidised\ngoods in the form of BBM and LPG, we will take firm and decisive action.\nTherefore, stop immediately,\u201d Nunung continued.<\/p>\n
Previously, Bareskrim Polri uncovered 755 crime scenes (TKP)\ninvolving the misuse of fuel (BBM) and subsidised LPG from 2025 until\nApril 2026.
