Volunteers from Bara JP have commented on the statement by the 10th\nand 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK), who claimed that Joko Widodo\n(Jokowi) became President due to his role. Bara JP emphasised that the\nvictory in the 2014 presidential election was purely due to the Jokowi\nfactor.<\/p>\n
This statement was delivered by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board\nof the DPP Bara JP, Utje Gustaf. He initially explained JK\u2019s role in\n2014.<\/p>\n
\u201cMr JK was one of the pieces of history that helped push Mr Jokowi to\nbecome Governor of Jakarta in 2012. Regarding Mr JK\u2019s support for Mr\nJokowi\u2019s presidential candidacy, that came after the roar of the masses\nsupporting Mr Jokowi\u2019s candidacy,\u201d said Utje when contacted on Monday\n(20\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
He then alluded to JK\u2019s statement in 2014. However, he still\nexpressed thanks for JK\u2019s role.<\/p>\n
\u201cWasn\u2019t there previously a statement from Mr JK that \u2018this country\nwould be ruined if Mr Jokowi became president\u2019? But whatever it is, we\nthank Mr JK for his role, and ultimately it placed Mr JK as vice\npresident following the 2014 presidential election,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Utje expressed surprise at JK\u2019s statement, given that\nJK lost in the 2009 presidential election. According to him, it is\nimpossible to win for someone else if one cannot win oneself.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf he claims to have played a major role in winning Mr Jokowi, I\nthink that is refuted by referring to the 2009 presidential election\nwhere Mr JK ran as a presidential candidate. In 2009, Mr JK ran as a\npresidential candidate and came third out of three candidates. It\u2019s not\npossible to win for someone else if he himself couldn\u2019t win the\npresidential contest,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
On that basis, Utje assessed that Jokowi\u2019s victory was due to the\nJokowi factor. \u201cSo in 2014, the Jokowi-JK pair won the presidential\nelection more because of the Jokowi factor,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
As is known, JK expressed his annoyance at the accusation by Rismon\nSianipar who said he funded the case regarding Jokowi\u2019s diploma. JK then\nreminded of his role behind Jokowi\u2019s career until becoming the 7th\nPresident of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
This statement was made by JK when asked about the police report\nregarding a video of his lecture on \u2018dying as a martyr\u2019 at UGM. On that\noccasion, he said that Jokowi became the 7th President of Indonesia\nbecause of him.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, JK\u2019s spokesperson, Husain Abdullah, explained the reason\nJK mentioned his role behind Jokowi becoming President. Husain Abdullah\nfirst noted that JK\u2019s statement was made in a raised tone to convince\nJokowi\u2019s loyalists who often narrate that JK is ungrateful despite being\nappointed vice president by Jokowi in 2014.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe explanation from Mr JK, which was delivered in a high tone, is\nto convince Jokowi\u2019s loyalists who often narrate that JK does not know\nhow to repay kindness even though he was appointed Vice President by\nJokowi.
