Malang (ANTARA) - The Ministry of National Development Planning\n(PPN\/Bappels) is intensifying \u201ccrowd action,\u201d or local-level collective\nmovements, through the SDG Certified Leadership Program to accelerate\nthe achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough this ongoing programme, we hope these 50 leaders can drive\nvarious achievements at the local level, which we call crowd\naction\u2014small-scale but numerous, and beneficial at higher levels such as\nregencies, provinces, and even the national level,\u201d said Rachman\nKurniawan, Manager of the Environmental Pillar of the National SDG\nSecretariat of the Ministry of PPN\/Bappenas, in Malang, East Java, on\nSaturday.<\/p>\n
Rachman noted that efforts to accelerate SDGs in the field face\nseveral classic challenges, ranging from limited human resource capacity\nand financial capabilities to time constraints.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, it is believed that the acceleration of sustainable\ndevelopment can be achieved through collaboration and mutual cooperation\n(gotong royong) driven by leaders at the local level.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe SDG Certified Leadership Program is expected to produce\noutstanding leaders capable of driving the implementation of SDGs on the\nground in various regions across Indonesia,\u201d said Rachman.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, he explained that the programme does not only provide\ntheoretical understanding but also serves as a living laboratory to\nbring parties together to collaborate on funding, real action, and ideas\nto complement large-scale national programmes.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, we cannot achieve this through massive, large-scale\nactivities only at the national level. Instead, we want to complement\nthem with activities that may appear small, but when aggregated, become\nsomething highly beneficial,\u201d said Rachman.<\/p>\n
The leadership programme includes workshops, discussions,\nassignments, mentoring, and the development of Capstone Projects. This\nyear, the programme received 947 applicants from 631 institutions or\norganisations across 32 provinces, which were subsequently selected down\nto 50 participants.<\/p>\n
Rachman explained that participants have been equipped with capacity\nbuilding through both theory and classroom practice during the first and\nsecond workshop stages. Meanwhile, the Capstone Project forms part of\nthe third workshop stage as a form of direct field implementation.<\/p>\n
Once participants complete their Capstone Projects, Bappenas will\npublish and disseminate the results as best practices in a colloquium\nbefore awarding graduation certificates to the participants.<\/p>\n
Bappenas is also encouraging participants not to stop at the final\nstage of the programme but to continue developing sustainably.<\/p>\n
To facilitate this potential for sustainability, Rachman stated that\nthe ministry is preparing a networking platform for alumni. Through this\nnetwork, alumni are expected to be motivated to replicate and upscale\nprogrammes through collective cooperation.<\/p>\n
