        "content": "<p>The position of intellectual property is now considered not only an\ninstrument of legal protection, but also a driver of national economic\ntransformation.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of National Development Planning\/Head of the National\nDevelopment Planning Agency (Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy said that\nintellectual property is a key instrument for escaping the middle income\ntrap.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia\u2019s 2045 economic vision targets the country to escape the\nmiddle income trap by 2038 and become one of the largest economic powers\nby 2045.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf in the past a nation\u2019s wealth was determined by natural\nresources, then in the 21st century advantage is determined by the\nability to create knowledge, produce innovation, and turn creativity\ninto high economic value,\u201d said Rachmat Pambudy at the 2026 Indonesia\nIntellectual Property National Coordination Forum: \u201cThe Strategic Role\nof Ministries\/Agencies in Building Indonesia\u2019s Intellectual Property\nEcosystem,\u201d from an official statement in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>On the same occasion, senior high-ranking officials from 36\nministries and agencies signed a joint commitment on the draft National\nIntellectual Property Master Plan 2027-2036. The document is being\nprepared as an important instrument in building an Indonesian economy\nthat is increasingly innovative, productive, and competitive.<\/p>\n<p>The position of intellectual property is now considered not only an\ninstrument of legal protection, but also a driver of national economic\ntransformation.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia\u2019s 2045 economic target is expected to be achieved through\neconomic transformation that does not rely solely on the exploration and\nexploitation of natural resources, but on an economy based on\ninnovation, technological productivity, value-added industry, and\nintellectual property.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia is recorded as lagging behind the European Union in\ngeographical indication registrations, despite the country\u2019s wealth of\ntraditional distinctive products.<\/p>\n<p>The government is encouraging this potential to be converted into\nprotected economic value, taking lessons from the success of other\ncountries that have monetised products based on geographical\nidentity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe discussion on intellectual property is not only about legal\nprotection, but also about national development strategy, a strategy for\nwinning competitiveness, and a strategy for building Indonesia\u2019s\neconomic future,\u201d said Rachmat Pambudy.<\/p>",
