        "content": "<p>Batam - The Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN)\/National\nDevelopment Planning Agency (Bappenas) supports the development of\nIndonesia\u2019s first wind energy-to-electricity conversion project in\nBatam, Riau Islands.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of PPN\/Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy expressed pride in\ninaugurating the wind energy conversion project to electricity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all hope this project will yield significant economic and\ninvestment benefits, not only for Batam but nationally,\u201d he said in a\nstatement received in Batam on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Rachmat attended the inauguration of McDermott Indonesia\u2019s\nCakrawala and Nusantara buildings alongside Riau Islands Governor Ansar\nAhmad.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Ansar Ahmad stated the project strengthens Batam\u2019s position\nas a key fabrication and energy hub in Indonesia, while also positioning\nit as a sustainable energy supply chain capable of global\ncompetition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince its operations began in the 1970s, McDermott has transformed\nfrom an initial 8-hectare site into a 110-hectare offshore fabrication\ngiant,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Over 50 years, the company has been a pioneer in Southeast Asia\u2019s\nmaritime manufacturing industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to witness this new milestone with the inauguration of\nthe Cakrawala Building (climate-controlled block assembly facility) and\nNusantara Building (blasting and painting facility), valued at $240\nmillion or Rp4 trillion,\u201d Ansar added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will ultimately place the Riau Islands Province first in the\nSumatra region and fifth nationally, while contributing to Kepri\u2019s\ninvestment achievements of Rp64.67 trillion by 2025,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony included a ribbon-cutting and plaque unveiling by\nMinister Rachmat Pambudy, Governor Ansar Ahmad, McDermott management,\nand officials.<\/p>",
